About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure the reliability of the growing eCommerce platform across security, CDN, DNS, servers, databases, caching, and monitoring
Build monitoring and observability from the ground up, including instrumentation, dashboards, and alerting
Establish SLIs/SLOs where none exist
Instrument services and follow requests across service boundaries
Manage monitors, dashboards, and alerts declaratively
Partner with the SRE lead and work directly with development teams to instrument their services
Drive observability forward proactively as a product

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of hands-on SRE / Platform / Observability engineering, with a proven track record of building monitoring and observability from scratch
Deep, hands-on command of logs, metrics, and traces
Strong experience with modern observability platforms: New Relic, Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus, and Elasticsearch / OpenSearch (ELK)
Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry or vendor agents for distributed tracing and instrumentation
Ability to design symptom-based, actionable alerting tied to user impact and tuned to avoid noise and alert fatigue
Ability to define and drive SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, and thresholds
Experience managing monitors, dashboards, and alerts declaratively using Terraform or similar
Working knowledge of CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Azure
Scripting skills in Python and/or Bash
Good communication skills in English
Ownership mindset and proactive approach to observability
Nice to have: Azure ACA; OpenTelemetry Collector pipelines; observability cost control; incident response and post-incident review experience; e-commerce or high-traffic environments
