About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assume ownership and management of a core group of strategic suppliers
  • Manage related purchasing and supplier relationships and overall supplier performance, including on-time delivery, product quality, pricing, and master data integrity
  • Convert supplier requisitions and process, manage, expedite, and follow up on purchase orders
  • Acquire and update purchase order and master data, including lead times, MOQs, shipping dates, pricing, freight, and ETAs
  • Cross-train to broaden product knowledge, supplier base, and process knowledge
  • Manage RFQs for current product lines and special requests; mentor interdepartmental personnel in quoting best practices
  • Cultivate supplier partnerships and negotiate supplier pricing, terms, discounts, and rebates
  • Resolve supplier discrepancies with accounting, inventory control, and shipping; coordinate logistics and freight issues with suppliers and receiving
  • Identify abnormal trends and variations affecting the supply chain and review slow- and non-moving inventory
  • Coordinate new product launches and phase-outs with marketing and product managers
  • Develop and implement sourcing methodologies for long-lead-time parts, including procurement from multiple overseas suppliers
  • Source and evaluate new suppliers for pricing, quality, and performance
  • Review supplier performance, including quality, pricing, and delivery
  • Reconcile supplier returns through MRR and CAR processes
  • Attend supplier on-site meetings and visit supplier sites as required
  • Uphold company values and attend work regularly and predictably

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related business field is required
  • 2 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred
  • Experience in forecasting, inventory management and developing/leading teams is strongly desired
  • Ability to handle data-analysis projects and changing priorities
  • Ability to explain complex functions in simple and understandable language
  • Strong reasoning skills, troubleshooting logic flows, accurate output production, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, project management, data mining and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of demand planning and forecasting is preferred
  • APICS or other forecasting certification is a plus
  • Proficiency in ERP software
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office or SQL language
  • Demonstrated systematic problem-solving ability and experience
  • Strong mathematics/statistics aptitude
  • Ability to communicate clearly and network with internal and external personnel
  • Ability to work independently with moderate to minimal supervision in unusual situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and handle multiple tasks and stressful situations
  • Ability to attend work regularly and predictably
  • Ability to visit supplier sites and attend supplier on-site meetings as required
