About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including vCenter, clusters, HA/DRS, and vMotion
  • Manage and maintain NetApp storage, including ONTAP administration, volume and LUN provisioning, NFS/iSCSI/CIFS, replication, and snapshots
  • Run larger infrastructure projects and independently resolve complex technical problems
  • Handle incidents, changes, and service requests
  • Own capacity, performance, patching, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management for virtualization and storage platforms
  • Run backup and restore operations and verify recovery
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
  • Participate in the stand-by rota
  • Work directly with client engineers in the Netherlands, including bidirectional knowledge sharing
  • Build reliable working relationships with the remote Dutch team and keep stakeholders informed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure support and projects
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere / ESXi) in production, including upgrades and lifecycle management
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP in production
  • Ability to troubleshoot across compute, storage, and network layers
  • Experience with SAN and Fibre Channel
  • Linux and Windows system administration
  • Backup and restore in a production environment
  • Scripting for automation using PowerShell or Python
  • Experience with ticketing and change management tooling such as ServiceNow or equivalent
  • Willingness to take part in a stand-by rota
  • Willingness to travel to the Netherlands for onboarding and knowledge sharing
  • English at C1 level
  • OpenStack or Proxmox, or genuine willingness to learn both
  • VMware vSAN or Site Recovery Manager
  • Backup tooling such as Veeam
  • Infrastructure as code with Ansible or Terraform
  • VMware VCP or NetApp NCDA certification
  • Any level of Dutch
