About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee end-to-end financial management, reporting, governance, and operational finance for the Agri division
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS financial statements
  • Oversee statutory reporting, tax submissions, and auditor liaison
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental levies, VAT, and corporate tax
  • Maintain internal controls and adherence to governance frameworks
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
  • Provide variance analysis and actionable management insights
  • Support long-term financial planning, scenario modelling, and cash-flow forecasting
  • Oversee product costing, absorption costing, and bill-of-materials accuracy
  • Monitor raw materials, consumables, and finished-goods inventory in high-volume production environments
  • Support supply chain and production teams with cost-optimization initiatives
  • Drive month-end close and deliver management accounts
  • Analyze profitability by product line, region, customer segment, and channel
  • Support margin improvement and operational-efficiency projects
  • Partner with sales, operations, and procurement teams on pricing, tenders, and contracts
  • Evaluate commercial deals, distributor agreements, and credit arrangements
  • Support working-capital optimization, including AR/AP, credit control, and supplier terms
  • Manage daily cash flow, banking relationships, and funding requirements
  • Oversee foreign-exchange exposure, hedging, and related financial risks
  • Strengthen controls based on audit recommendations
  • Maintain risk registers and compliance with financial, environmental, and safety reporting requirements
  • Champion ethical financial practices and regulatory adherence
  • Prepare and manage the approved budget within the area of control
  • Prepare cost-tracking and variation reports and recommend budget-affecting changes
  • Inform the Finance Director of potential overspends
  • Drive finance process optimization, ERP and BI improvements, reconciliation automation, and reporting dashboards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Chartered Accountant – CA(SA) preferred
  • Alternatively: CIMA / SAIPA / SAICA-designated professional with strong technical grounding
  • 1–5 years post articles experience in finance, management accounting, auditing, or commercial finance
  • Understanding of MRP and demand planning would be an advantage
  • Prior Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI experience and advanced Excel would be advantageous
  • Ability to complete margin analysis and build business cases for new ventures and capex acquisitions
  • Exposure to manufacturing, agriculture, chemicals, FMCG, or industrial sectors preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Syspro, or Sage advantageous
  • Strong IFRS knowledge
  • Solid management accounting and costing experience
  • Strong financial modelling capability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, regulated environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
