About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and highly available GCP infrastructure
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and other automation tools
  • Develop, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Cloud Build
  • Automate deployment, configuration management and operational processes using Python, Bash or PowerShell
  • Manage GCP services including GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM and VPC networking
  • Implement containerisation and orchestration solutions using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Establish monitoring, logging, alerting and observability using Google Cloud Operations Suite and other monitoring platforms
  • Apply cloud infrastructure security best practices, including IAM, least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption and vulnerability management
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous service improvement
  • Collaborate with development, security and architecture teams to embed DevSecOps practices
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, resilience and business continuity solutions
  • Ensure cloud environments comply with security policies, governance requirements and operational standards
  • Contribute to technical documentation, operational runbooks and knowledge sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven commercial experience working as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer or in a similar role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Practical experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Experience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of Linux administration, networking, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls and load balancing
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and container-based application deployments
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash or equivalent
  • Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative software development workflows
  • Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, encryption and secure configuration practices
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and production incident resolution
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and modern DevOps principles
  • Active Security Clearance is essential
