About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage capital investments through their full life cycles, including scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closure
- Ensure safe project execution and compliance with government agency requirements in coordination with HSE personnel
- Integrate plant personnel into capital project management
- Provide project evaluation and economic analysis and lead efforts toward approved Appropriation Requests
- Support strategic planning, annual operating plans, and Six Sigma initiatives to develop capital plans and budgets
- Monitor and control projects against objectives and commitments
- Apply project controls including estimating, scheduling, cost control, and earned value management
- Maintain capital expenditure forecasting and management
- Coordinate with site engineering, purchasing, operations, systems, business engineering, vendors, and contractors
- Participate in Site Leadership Team meetings as Capital Project Engineering representative
- Process site eMOC, MST, and PSSR requirements
- Maintain project drawings, specifications, programs, and documentation and oversee turnover to plant resources
- Promote safety awareness and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings
- Mentor Project Managers and Engineers and oversee Solstice or contract project teams
- Deliver projects on time, within scope, and within targeted costs
- Use SAP, EcoSys, and project management tools to estimate, plan, and execute projects
- Manage Change Orders and project resources
- Coordinate process design teams, design houses, and contractors
- Ensure customer satisfaction and final process design package standards
- Report project progress and identify cost overruns or schedule delays
- Prepare bid packages, requests for quotes, and statements of work for design, engineering, construction, equipment bidding, and startup activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 4 years’ experience of increasingly related responsibilities in capital project management and execution processes
- U.S. person requirement: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status
- BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering preferred
- Manufacturing experience in chemical plants preferred
- Strong working knowledge of plant operations, maintenance, and processes preferred
- Experience managing financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership
- Experience working with contract engineering firms
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification, or equivalent experience implementing productivity/continuous improvement projects
- Prior experience with SAP preferred
- Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
