About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee day-to-day operational activities of active projects
- Ensure employees follow safe working practices
- Collect and consolidate data for reports, acceptance tests, analytical tools, and deliverables
- Onboard active projects into internal Performance Team platforms
- Track critical issues across the construction and operational fleet and share findings for fleet optimization
- Troubleshoot performance data and equipment challenges associated with commissioning and correlate data with work orders
- Lead Performance Engineers I & II in daily coordination and management of operational project activities
- Analyze energy losses and system performance from equipment outages or underperformance
- Update client reports, including Commissioning Plans, Test Reports, Operation reports, Vitals, forecasting, and Yearly Guarantees
- Support field-team work prioritization based on failure criticality and occurrences
- Identify operational issues and coordinate resolution with OEM vendors, field technicians, SCADA engineers, and other parties
- Support development of data analytics and software tools
- Review performance and operations reports for accuracy and project issues
- Manage plant performance optimization initiatives with engineering, field, project management, and client teams
- Track contractual guarantees and conduct project risk and optimization meetings
- Maintain documents and procedures for internal reference and training
- Facilitate project reviews and client ad-hoc requests; escalate issues as needed
- Review turnover documentation for equipment underperformance and failure modes
- Run and evaluate PV system energy models for utility-scale solar PV projects
- Verify project drawings and equipment installation details
- Create and maintain troubleshooting, reporting, and workflow templates
- Execute Performance Engineering Workflow Process tasks and maintain status notes
- Run and evaluate PVsyst simulations for terrain, horizon, shading, snow, soiling, and spectral losses
- Grow into a subject matter expert in PV power plants
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, science, or a related technical discipline
- 4+ years’ experience in PV Performance Engineering or data analytics
- Experience in modeling using software like PVSyst, PlantPredict, SAM, and so on
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools
- Experience with programming languages like Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java, and others preferred
- Ability to travel up to 20% of time
- Broad understanding of the Renewable Energy industry with emphasis on Service and Construction preferred
- Experience working for a diverse multi-disciplined company
- Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details and thoughts to internal/external clients
- Effective problem-solving ability and strong analytical skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for problem solving
- Able to problem solve and engineer the solution
- Able to explain to both internal and external clients
- Able to mentor and oversee Performance Engineers I/II
