About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities of active projects
  • Ensure safe practices across field and office teams
  • Collect and consolidate data for reports, acceptance tests, analytical tools, and deliverables
  • Onboard active projects into internal Performance Team platforms
  • Track critical issues across construction and operational fleets and share findings for fleet optimization
  • Troubleshoot performance data and equipment issues associated with commissioning and correlate work-order data
  • Lead Performance Engineers and Analysts in daily coordination and management of operational activities
  • Analyze energy losses and system performance from equipment outages or underperformance
  • Update client reports, including Commissioning Plans, Test Reports, Operation reports, Vitals, forecasting, and Yearly Guarantees
  • Support work prioritization for field teams based on failure criticality and occurrences
  • Identify operational issues and coordinate resolution with OEM vendors, field technicians, SCADA engineers, and other parties
  • Support development of data analytics and software tools
  • Review reports and analyses for accuracy and operational issues
  • Manage plant performance optimization initiatives with engineering, field, project management, and client teams
  • Track contractual guarantees and assess project risks and potential improvements
  • Maintain documentation and procedures for internal reference and training
  • Facilitate project reviews and client ad-hoc requests; escalate issues as needed
  • Review turnover documentation and equipment underperformance root causes
  • Run and evaluate PV system energy models for utility-scale solar PV projects
  • Verify project drawings and equipment installation details
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting, reporting, and workflow templates
  • Execute tasks in the Performance Engineering Workflow Process and maintain status notes
  • Run and evaluate PVsyst simulations for terrain, horizon, shading, snow, soiling, and spectral losses
  • Develop subject-matter expertise in PV power plants
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, science, or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years’ experience in PV Performance Engineering, Capacity Testing (ASTM E2848 & IEC standards) and PV data analytics
  • Experience in modeling using software like PVSyst, PlantPredict, SAM, and so on
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java, and others preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time
  • Broad understanding of the Renewable Energy industry with emphasis on Service and Construction preferred
  • Experience working for a diverse multi-disciplined company
  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details and thoughts to internal/external clients
  • Effective problem-solving ability and strong analytical skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for problem solving
  • Able to problem solve and engineer the solution
  • Able to explain to both internal and external clients
  • Able to mentor and oversee Performance Engineers & Analysts
