About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy mission-critical applications for SEI
  • Design and develop modifications to the custom-developed Sophia application
  • Work closely with business analysts, key users, and the project team to assess business needs and implement technology solutions using Agile methodology
  • Convert moderate- to high-complexity specifications and procedures into application and software solutions
  • Develop across all tiers of an application
  • Apply object-oriented programming techniques and patterns across varied application environments
  • Adhere to and promote Agile development methods, including Test Driven Development
  • Set up automated build environments
  • Recommend technical approaches for reliable and efficient code
  • Design and develop robust solutions
  • Collaborate with project team members and IT colleagues to create future product iterations from defined requirements
  • Participate in and develop new software releases
  • Work with QA to create test plans
  • Assist in creating implementation plans
  • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions to production issues
  • Provide level 3 post-implementation support for enterprise applications
  • Participate in the ongoing development of technical best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Five plus (5+) years experience in web application design, development, and implementation
  • Five plus (5+) years experience with Ruby, JavaScript, and Responsive Web Design
  • 2 plus (2+) years working with AWS Infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Front End Frameworks
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud architectures
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries
  • Knowledge of responsive design patterns
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with version control
  • Experience with Agile
  • Experience with Test Driven Development, Automation, AWS, and Jira
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job
