About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and lead the multi-year product strategy for Sophia Learning’s online learning platform user experience
  • Establish and lead a continuous discovery and user research practice
  • Synthesize research, behavioral data, and market signals into problem statements, personas, and prioritized opportunities
  • Guide Sophia’s AI product vision and roadmap across multiple product areas
  • Lead initiatives embedding machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI into core applications
  • Advise executive leadership by translating research insights and technical opportunities into business value
  • Establish design best practices and design review mechanisms
  • Own end-to-end learner, partner, and administrative experiences
  • Create flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs and partner with Engineering to bring designs to production
  • Oversee a scalable, governed design system with design standards, documentation, and accessibility models
  • Implement UX success metrics and an experimentation framework with Engineering, Data/Analytics, and AI teams
  • Mentor and coach Product Managers
  • Represent Sophia Learning as an industry thought leader in AI for online learning, ethical AI, and data-driven learning experiences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of product design and/or product management experience in SaaS, data platform, or AI-driven product environments
  • Hands-on design experience with user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI
  • Ownership of product outcomes for complex, cross-functional product areas
  • Proven ability to lead research and translate customer insight into product direction
  • Ability to define requirements, prioritize a backlog, own delivery, and produce wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes
  • Strong understanding of modern design and prototyping tools, component-based design systems, accessibility standards, and component lifecycle management
  • Experience structuring design systems for agentic development and AI coding tools
  • Ability to bridge technical depth and executive influence
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional AI initiatives spanning design, data engineering, product, and data science
  • Experience defining AI governance frameworks and human-centered AI design principles
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills
  • Working familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure and modern data and AI tools
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with executive stakeholders and technical leaders
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Must be able to travel occasionally when business needs arise
  • Must be able to meet critical thinking, problem solving, communication, computer access, and schedule requirements
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
