About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Write complex, efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
Turn business requirements into well-structured, maintainable SQL logic
Build data extracts and datasets for reporting and analytics
Analyze execution plans to find and fix performance bottlenecks
Recommend and implement performance optimizations such as query rewriting, caching, and materialized views
Monitor database performance and fix issues before they affect users
Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from source systems or S3 into the warehouse
Build in data quality checks, validation, and error handling
Troubleshoot and resolve ETL job failures and data discrepancies
Document data flows, mappings, transformations, and technical designs
Work with analysts and business users to clarify requirements, and take part in code reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of hands-on experience writing complex SQL (joins, CTEs, window functions, subqueries, aggregations)
Proven experience optimizing SQL queries and tuning database performance, including reading and interpreting execution plans
3+ years of experience developing ETL processes for a data warehouse
Experience with at least one cloud-hosted data warehouse, preferably Snowflake or Databricks
Experience with at least one ETL tool or framework such as Databricks, Informatica, Talend, AWS Glue, or similar
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision and strong attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication in English
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Power BI (DAX, Power Query/M, data modeling) or Tableau (calculated fields, LOD expressions, Server/Cloud publishing) is nice to have
Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks is nice to have
Python for automation and data processing; Spark/PySpark is nice to have
Dimensional modeling (star and snowflake schemas) and data warehousing concepts (Kimball/Inmon) is nice to have
Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines for database and ETL deployments, and job scheduling/orchestration is nice to have
