About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the practice and maintain efficient patient flow
- Room patients and take vital signs and measurements
- Perform phlebotomy as needed
- Administer vaccines and perform provider-ordered treatments and procedures
- Provide patient education, counseling, testing, and screenings
- Maintain, set up, and stock patient rooms; order and track supplies
- Perform administrative duties including scheduling, filing, answering phones, correspondence, charts, referrals, and paperwork
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
- Assist physicians with minor procedures and wound care; act as chaperone when needed
- Coordinate room rotations and assist with front-desk coverage
- Receive test results and contact patients regarding follow-up under provider direction
- Clean instruments and equipment and maintain sterilizer competencies
- Communicate critical patient information to nurses and providers
- Participate in huddles, staff meetings, workflow meetings, flu clinics, evaluations, training, and mentoring
- Follow infection control, safety, patient identification, hand hygiene, PPE, hazardous-material disposal, and communication procedures
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- BLS - Basic Life Support required
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Strong clinical and judgment skills
- Good organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work successfully as a team player
- Demonstrated knowledge of varied medical procedures
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and English grammar
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions; communicate clearly
- Able to both lead and take direction from Nursing Supervisor
- Computer proficiency using the electronic medical record, telephone communications, e-mail, and other software
- 10-hour days
- Must be flexible with at least 2 locations
- Must work the required weekend and holiday schedule
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) required
