About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing care to pediatric patients following established standards and practices
  • Room patients and document chief complaints, vital signs, measurements, and nursing notes in the EMR
  • Perform nurse visits according to departmental standards
  • Perform assessments and prioritize care with provider input
  • Administer immunizations and medications according to workflows, policies, and procedures
  • Perform treatments and procedures in compliance with departmental standards
  • Monitor patients and report changes to providers
  • Provide follow-up care, patient education, test results, and treatment-plan notifications
  • Document patient and provider conversations in the electronic medical record
  • Communicate with community agencies for continuity of care
  • Coordinate appointments at outside facilities
  • Complete forms and letters in the EMR
  • Participate in the SSMC flu clinic for a minimum of two sessions
  • Maintain universal precautions and perform sterile technique as needed
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees
  • Assume the Charge Nurse role when designated by the Nurse Supervisor
  • Adhere to SSH mission, SSMC policies, procedures, and service standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Degree or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year previous nursing experience preferred
  • Valid LPN license
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Knowledge of nursing practice to give and assess patient care in collaboration with providers and professional nurses
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, office staff, and the general public
  • Ability to follow quality workflows, established guidelines, and procedures
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow written and oral instructions
  • Computer proficiency with electronic medical records, patient registration/billing systems, email, and other software
  • RN-Registered Nurse - Board of Registration in Nursing (Massachusetts)
