About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect, monitor, test, and report on environmental tracking systems
  • Help maintain compliance with environmental regulations and permits for mineral exploration, construction, water treatment, and mining operations
  • Follow site, field, company, and MSHA safety procedures
  • Assist with documenting environmental compliance inspections of site facilities and operations
  • Support air quality field data collection and inspections
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols
  • Prepare and ship time- and temperature-sensitive fragile lab samples
  • Enter data and maintain organized environmental monitoring information
  • Support stormwater and spill control inspections and maintenance
  • Support onsite engine tracking and complete assigned tasks through the obligation register
  • Conduct environmental inspections and monitoring for permit, regulatory, and company compliance
  • Collect water, soil, vegetation, dust, and waste samples and maintain accurate field records
  • Assist with environmental audits, compliance inspections, incident investigations, data collection, and corrective action tracking
  • Maintain environmental compliance records, databases, monitoring logs, and routine reports
  • Support erosion and sediment control, dust management, waste management, and spill prevention programs
  • Coordinate field activities with operations personnel, contractors, and consultants
  • Identify, document, and communicate environmental concerns, non-compliance issues, risks, and hazards
  • Prioritize inspections, monitoring activities, and assignments independently
  • Provide environmental guidance to employees and contractors
  • Build relationships with operations, maintenance, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Use GPS, monitoring equipment, and environmental management systems to collect, track, and report environmental data

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Geology, Environmental Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience supporting environmental compliance, monitoring, inspections, sampling, or related environmental activities preferred
  • Experience in mining, construction, manufacturing, energy, industrial, or similar operational environments preferred
  • Experience collecting environmental data and maintaining compliance records, logs, and documentation preferred
  • Experience supporting field inspections, environmental monitoring programs, and compliance-related activities
  • Internship, seasonal, volunteer, academic, or other relevant field experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated experience working safely in field environments and following established safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, permits, and compliance requirements
  • Understanding of air quality, water quality, stormwater management, waste management, hazardous materials, and reclamation practices
  • Ability to conduct environmental inspections, monitoring activities, sampling, and compliance observations
  • Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques, monitoring equipment, and environmental data collection methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Familiarity with GPS, ArcGIS, EQuIS, or similar environmental data management systems preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate environmental records, documentation, and compliance data
  • Ability to identify, document, and communicate environmental concerns, risks, and potential compliance issues
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement
  • Willingness and ability to work in office settings, construction sites, and remote outdoor locations, including uneven terrain and varying weather conditions
