About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect, process, and test patient specimens for diagnosis and treatment of disease
- Perform routine waived, moderately complex, and highly complex testing
- Collect, process, and receive blood, urine, fecal, and body-fluid specimens for analysis in clinical laboratory departments
- Evaluate and solve problems related to biological specimen collection, processing, and analysis across all age ranges
- Prepare samples for testing and send them to reference laboratories
- Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies
- Perform complex laboratory procedures and recognize deviations from expected results
- Analyze and correct problems using scientific principles under direct supervision per CLIA requirements
- Analyze quality-control data and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision under direct supervision per CLIA requirements
- Assist with troubleshooting and instrument maintenance
- Participate in training programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree in applied science in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Eligible to sit for MLT (ASCP) or equivalent (MLT I)
- MLT (ASCP) or equivalent (MLT II and above)
- MLT III: 3 years clinical laboratory experience
- MLS I: Bachelor's degree in applicable field; 1 year laboratory experience preferred; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- MLS II: Bachelor's degree in applicable field; MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification required; 1 year laboratory experience required; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- MLS III: Bachelor's degree in applicable field; MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification required; 3 years clinical laboratory experience
- Intermittent hand manipulation required
- Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds
