About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a full-service, single point of contact for customers’ financial needs in the branch
  • Provide exceptional service in both teller and financial services representative capacities
  • Process savings, checking, and loan account transactions
  • Cash checks, process savings withdrawals, sell certified checks, balance transactions, and service or balance ATMs
  • Open new deposit accounts and handle stop payments, wire transfers, and other account maintenance functions
  • Identify customer needs and make referrals to expand customer relationships
  • Explain bank policies and procedures
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints and direct difficult issues to appropriate sources
  • Maintain accurate branch records, reports, and correspondence
  • Follow banking regulations, security procedures, audit procedures, and operational policies
  • Develop customer understanding of technology and enroll customers in self-service options
  • Guide and train new tellers when needed
  • Float to different offices to accommodate staffing needs
  • Perform vault or backup vault responsibilities as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One year of teller or cash handling experience
  • Six months of customer relationship building or sales experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions
  • Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience
  • Previous banking experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers
  • Completion of SouthState Way New Team Member Orientation, Teller Foundations, Banker Foundations, assigned Regulatory Compliance Training, and policy acknowledgements through DocuSign
  • Ability to float to different offices in the area to accommodate staffing needs
  • Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed
