About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support, maintain and modernise Space NK’s network services across Microsoft Azure, corporate offices, distribution and datacentre environments, and retail stores
  • Administer and support Azure VNets, subnets, VNet peering, IP addressing, NSGs, route tables, UDRs and network segmentation
  • Support Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Private Link, Private Endpoints, Load Balancer, Application Gateway and Front Door
  • Administer and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, switching, routing and wireless infrastructure
  • Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, trunking, routing, NAT, ACLs, VPNs and network segmentation
  • Support Cisco, Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Aruba/HPE or equivalent network infrastructure
  • Support retail networking, store connectivity, Wi-Fi, POS, payment devices and SD-WAN/MPLS/Internet/4G/5G failover connectivity
  • Support hybrid connectivity between Azure, corporate locations, distribution environments and retail stores
  • Implement network segmentation, firewall, ACL and traffic-flow controls using least-privilege, Zero Trust and secure-by-default principles
  • Work with Cyber Security on network-related security events and remediation
  • Support PCI DSS, ISO 27001 and other applicable security and compliance requirements
  • Monitor availability, performance and capacity using Azure Monitor, SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow and network monitoring platforms
  • Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and manage assigned tasks through escalation and resolution
  • Engage ISPs, carriers and technology vendors to resolve service issues
  • Maintain incident, change and problem records, technical runbooks, diagrams and network documentation
  • Use scripting and automation, with opportunities to develop PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, Terraform and API skills
  • Contribute to standardised network configurations and Infrastructure/Network-as-Code practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS and DHCP
  • Experience configuring or supporting enterprise switches, routers, firewalls and wireless networks
  • Practical understanding of VPNs, NAT, ACLs and network segmentation
  • Experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Aruba/HPE or equivalent platforms
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Azure networking, or strong traditional networking experience with a desire to develop Azure skills
  • Understanding of VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing and hybrid cloud connectivity
  • Experience troubleshooting network issues using Wireshark, ping, traceroute and iperf
  • Good understanding of network security principles and secure network configuration
  • Ability to independently investigate and resolve routine network incidents and configuration issues
  • Good technical documentation and communication skills
  • Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline is advantageous but not essential where equivalent practical experience can be demonstrated
  • Relevant professional experience in networking, cloud infrastructure or related engineering role is expected
  • Certifications are desirable but not mandatory, including AZ-700, CCNA, Cisco Meraki certification, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ and AZ-900
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Willingness to perform physical network and cabling checks at Space NK locations where required
  • Good understanding of change control, documentation and production support
