About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to the technical design, development, testing, and implementation of Java-based custom software solutions
- Develop and enhance Java-based RESTful web services according to technical designs and architectural standards
- Review functional specifications and collaborate with business analysts and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical design components
- Provide effort estimates for new functionality, enhancements, and change requests
- Create and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and performance
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback
- Collaborate with development team members to evaluate software lifecycle impacts and recommend technical improvements
- Provide task progress updates and identify and escalate technical risks, dependencies, and issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in software development, including hands-on Java application development
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using Java and JavaScript
- 2+ years of experience with Angular and modern web application development practices
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful web services and working with application integration patterns
- 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies
- 2+ years of experience developing and supporting applications in Linux-based environments
- Understanding of application design principles, software architecture, and application performance considerations
- Experience with unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting software applications
- Ability to work independently within Agile development teams and participate in technical and architecture discussions
- Strong organizational, multitasking, time-management, analytical, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance
- Must have lived in the United States for at least 3 of the past 5 years
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Preferred: experience supporting CMS, federal government, or healthcare systems
- Preferred: experience with Spring Framework, Maven or Gradle, XML/JSON processing, NoSQL technologies such as MarkLogic, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build and deployment tools
