About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, test, and maintain software components throughout the software development lifecycle
Develop and enhance Scala-based REST APIs based on technical designs and business requirements
Collaborate with Business Analysts and technical teams to identify design gaps and implement functionality improvements
Build, configure, and support scalable software solutions using modern development frameworks and tools
Create and execute unit tests to ensure code quality and application reliability
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, test, and production environments
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives
Support application deployments, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in software development and application support
Strong experience with Scala, Java, and REST API development
Experience with JavaScript and modern web application development practices
Mandatory experience developing and consuming RESTful services using Scala
Knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and secure coding practices
Experience with unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting complex applications
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Preferred: experience supporting CMS, Federal Government, or healthcare systems
Preferred: experience with NoSQL databases
Preferred: experience working within Agile development teams
