About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and configure software components according to technical design specifications and project requirements
  • Build Scala- and Java-based RESTful APIs supporting functional requirements and scalable system performance
  • Partner with Business Analysts to identify design gaps and recommend functionality improvements
  • Produce effort estimates for features, enhancements, and change requests
  • Create and execute unit tests to ensure code quality and design adherence
  • Troubleshoot defects and operational issues across development, staging, and production environments
  • Apply technologies, methodologies, and tools to support project delivery and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on experience developing enterprise-grade software using Scala, Java, and JavaScript
  • Practical knowledge of designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including API integration and data exchange patterns
  • Working knowledge with Scala in a backend or service-oriented development context is mandatory
  • Experience using Splunk for log analysis, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting across multi-environment systems
  • Demonstrated ability to write and execute unit tests and understanding of software testing best practices
  • Skill in diagnosing and resolving defects across development, staging, and production environments
  • Ability to translate technical designs into quality software solutions with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and contributing within a collaborative development team
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, CMS, or highly regulated healthcare systems preferred
  • REST/Gradle-based application development, NoSQL databases, and Agile methodologies preferred
  • AWS cloud certifications preferred
