About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess Spartech’s quality system effectiveness and develop a long-range global quality vision
  • Evaluate and monitor external customer quality audits and coordinate investigations and improvement plans
  • Advise senior leaders on improving quality systems and product quality
  • Help business teams manage, coordinate, and prioritize quality project portfolios
  • Develop and maintain global quality metrics, executive dashboards, and reports
  • Manage central ISO certifications and ensure sites meet applicable standards
  • Manage the global customer complaint system, identify trends, and develop corrective plans
  • Provide indirect leadership to Spartech quality leaders and chair the global quality leader council
  • Provide technical leadership and training on quality systems, tools, methodologies, and auditing
  • Develop and maintain quality training curricula and certification standards
  • Manage calibration services and use site data to improve performance
  • Ensure raw-material specifications are defined and followed
  • Manage supplier quality-system evaluations and address risks with sourcing and business teams
  • Support sites or businesses at risk of losing business or quality certifications
  • Manage integrated quality-system software applications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. degree in a related engineering discipline, physical sciences, or management, or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in operations and/or quality
  • 8–10 years of quality management experience
  • Trained in Lean techniques and able to lead Kaizen events
  • Experience conducting internal quality audits and responding to external quality audits preferred
  • Minimum five years’ experience with thermoplastic processing, automotive, or plastics quality management systems preferred
  • Experience using ERP or other manufacturing systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • M.S. degree in engineering, physical sciences, or management preferred
  • OE Black Belt training or certification desired
  • PowerPoint experience preferred
