About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive to sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations
- Use computer utility maps, mapping tools, location information, and specialized locating equipment to identify underground utilities
- Locate underground electrical cables, gas lines, telephone lines, and other communication lines
- Mark utility locations using paint and flags
- Communicate relevant utility location information to excavation personnel or appropriate authorities
- Respond to after-hours emergency call-outs according to the established rotation schedule, where applicable
- Prevent utility damage during excavation and help ensure public safety and infrastructure protection
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must reside in the Cobb County, GA Region
- Utility locating experience preferred but not required
- Utility construction experience preferred but not required
- Outdoor work experience preferred but not required
- Must have a positive attitude
- Must be able to use a computer
- Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment
- Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
- Must be available for Monday–Friday full-time work, with possible weekend work
- Ability to drive 50 to 200+ miles daily
- Ability to stand and walk lengthy distances (4–6 miles) over uneven terrain
- Ability to sit for long periods while driving
- Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
