About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own major features end to end with the design team, from decision through release
- Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
- Write and review code, providing constructive feedback
- Unblock engineers and investigate stalled work
- Standardize successful implementations for team use
- Maintain shared components so they are tested, clear, and consolidated
- Lead changes to team processes

Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on
- Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests
- Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work
- Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them
- Something introduced to a team that remained after the candidate stopped pushing it, with an honest account of its cost
- Comfort asking people to change how they work and handling the resulting friction
- Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not, based on system behavior
- Track record of building things the rest of the team used, not only productivity tools
- Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents
- Product design intuition, user empathy, and drive to improve Android UI/UX beyond the specification
- Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification
- Excellent communication skills
- Portfolio and LinkedIn links requested with application
- Bonus: building, maintaining, or contributing to open source Android projects
- Bonus: experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS
- Several technical interviews and an assessment on a real codebase
