About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Learning Technology Section by collaborating with SMEs and stakeholders across NATO Nations, Partners, and Entities to conduct needs analysis and, when necessary, Training Needs Analysis
  • Define measurable learning objectives aligned with course goals
  • Design course structures, including modules, lessons, and assessments
  • Develop instructional content from SME source materials using storyboard-based or rapid development methodologies
  • Select and implement instructional strategies for varied learning styles
  • Design and implement pre-, formative, and summative assessments
  • Evaluate course impact and effectiveness
  • Establish feedback mechanisms and refine course content and delivery methods
  • Engage with clients, SMEs, and team members to ensure communication, timelines, and deliverables
  • Provide instructional systems design assistance and quality assurance for NATO course providers, ensuring compliance with NATO standards
  • Prepare, facilitate, and evaluate instructor-led educational activities, workshops, and professional development events in virtual and residential environments
  • Represent the Learning Technology Section in meetings, conferences, workshops, and other activities; monitor project progress and coordinate stakeholders
  • Research and recommend emerging learning technologies, instructional methodologies, and best practices for NATO education and training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MS/MA or BS/BA degree in Education and Training Development or related programs, including learning theory, educational psychology, instructional design, or education evaluation; alternatively, a BS/BA degree in the listed fields with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an instructional systems designer
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the last 5 years working with e-learning development
  • Experience communicating effectively with clients, SMEs, and stakeholders throughout the instructional design process
  • Experience using state-of-the-art e-learning authoring tools to develop SCORM-compliant learning content
  • Experience developing content within Learning Management Systems
  • Portfolio demonstrating contributions to at least three e-learning projects, including representative storyboards with screenshots of fully developed courses, course outline, course flow, and assessment strategy
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English as defined in STANAG 6001, SLP 3333, or equivalent
  • Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance
