About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build investment cases for strategic bets, new segments, market entry, GTM investments, and product investments
  • Lead post-investment reviews comparing expected and realized returns
  • Own frameworks for allocating spend and headcount across GTM, R&D, and G&A
  • Establish mechanisms and decision criteria for reallocating resources as priorities change
  • Own annual planning, quarterly forecasting, and rolling outlook processes
  • Establish forecast inputs, owners, timelines, and accountability for forecast accuracy
  • Make unit economics understandable to non-finance leaders, including gross margin, model/inference costs, cost-to-serve, CAC payback, customer profitability, and NRR/GRR
  • Partner with GTM and Product on pricing and packaging, including usage-based components
  • Model alternatives, stress-test downside scenarios, and establish economic guardrails
  • Shape the finance systems roadmap across CRM, billing, ERP, expense, and reporting
  • Set systems priorities, define requirements, and drive implementation with RevOps, Data, and external partners
  • Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Partner with the VP of Finance and executive team on board and investor materials
  • Translate company performance, forecast changes, and strategic decisions into a clear financial narrative
  • Build the capabilities, processes, and operating cadence for a high-performing strategic finance function
  • Develop the team and establish ownership across planning, forecasting, analytics, and business partnering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years across FP&A, strategic finance, or business finance in software
  • Experience at a growth-stage company where the process did not exist yet
  • Experience running planning, forecasting, and business partnering at a high-growth B2B software company
  • Experience with usage-based, consumption, or hybrid pricing models, or building the transition to one
  • Experience leading a meaningful finance systems or process change
  • Experience turning operational data into an executive narrative
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership or a board and defending the numbers under pressure
  • Deep fluency in SaaS and consumption metrics, including ARR, NRR, gross margin under variable COGS, magic number, payback, and burn efficiency
  • Excellent financial modeling skills
  • Familiarity with CRM, billing, ERP, and reporting systems
  • Ability to direct a systems project without writing code
  • Ability to provide and defend recommendations to GTM leadership
  • High ownership and low ego about scope
  • Legal tech or legal industry exposure is a nice-to-have
  • Enterprise procurement and security-heavy sales cycle experience is a nice-to-have
  • Audit readiness or pre-IPO experience is a nice-to-have
  • Familiarity with AI infrastructure cost management is a nice-to-have
  • Must be legally able to work and reside in Canada or the United States at the time of application
  • No relocation or visa sponsorship support provided
