About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own day-to-day transactional accounting tasks, including general bookkeeping and accurate posting of journal entries in QuickBooks
- Assist with accounts payable, including routing invoices for internal approval and ensuring timely payments
- Support accounts receivable through client requests, vendor setups, and AR follow-ups
- Support payroll processing, including preparing and reviewing inputs, posting payroll journal entries, and reconciling payroll accounts
- Maintain accurate and timely financial data through weekly transaction posting and categorization
- Collaborate with sales and customer success teams on invoicing
- Contribute to month-end close by preparing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial statements are recorded and balanced
- Maintain and improve accounting-system data quality
- Use QuickBooks to streamline processes and move toward real-time accounting
- Perform recurring accounting tasks accurately and consistently
- Support other accounting and administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exposure to payroll processing is an asset
- Working towards a CPA designation is a nice-to-have
- Must be legally able to work and reside in Canada at the time of application; Spellbook does not provide relocation or visa sponsorship support
