About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Board Advisory search assignments from kick-off through completion
  • Translate client mandates into clear research and execution plans
  • Conduct deep, creative research across industries and functions
  • Develop target company lists, candidate pipelines, executive profiles, and market insights
  • Build understanding of clients’ businesses, strategies, ownership contexts, board compositions, and governance priorities
  • Maintain accurate, organized project materials and produce concise, client-ready documents
  • Monitor progress, flag issues and risks, challenge assumptions, and recommend next steps
  • Contribute research and execution support to pitch materials, thought leadership, and business development initiatives
  • Manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, workplans, commitments, risks, and next steps
  • Use internal and external sources to uncover candidates, patterns, and insights
  • Test facts, identify gaps, distinguish evidence from assumptions, and validate conclusions
  • Collaborate with colleagues, adapt communication styles, provide and receive feedback, and support team effectiveness
  • Stay current on corporate governance developments, board and executive movements, and emerging client-relevant issues
  • Participate in internal activities and represent Spencer Stuart’s values, culture, and Code of Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recent or soon-to-be university graduate with a four-year bachelor’s degree
  • Candidates graduating in Fall 2026 are welcome to apply; Spring 2027 graduates are not eligible
  • Strong academic performance required (3.4+ GPA)
  • Well-roundedness demonstrated through leadership experience in internships, work experience, community service, athletics, or student-led organizations
  • Advanced research, analysis, and synthesis skills
  • Strong project management skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed, proactive, and resourceful; able to manage competing priorities, raise concerns early, and challenge assumptions constructively
  • Intellectual curiosity about corporate governance and ability to learn unfamiliar industries and functions quickly
  • Highly proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • In possession of permanent work authorizations necessary for the country in which you are applying
  • Ability to navigate Quest, Capital IQ, D&B Hoovers, BoardEx, LinkedIn, and other internal and external resources
