About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain production-grade public APIs for external customers and enterprise partners
Architect scalable backend services and reusable platform components
Develop foundational data models for structured records, unstructured data, and high-frequency time-series information
Build ingestion and integration frameworks to normalize data from multiple external sources
Design and maintain asynchronous processing systems, distributed workflows, and event-driven architectures
Ensure API reliability, backwards compatibility, versioning, security, and maintainability
Collaborate with engineering teams and enterprise partners on scalable integration solutions
Own complex backend projects from architecture through production deployment
Contribute to technical decisions shaping the platform’s long-term architecture
Build APIs and data infrastructure supporting personalized healthcare on an AI platform

Requirements

What you’ll need

5–6+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial hands-on backend development
Strong experience building production backend systems using TypeScript/Node.js or comparable backend technologies
Experience designing and maintaining external-facing/public APIs
Deep understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, optimization, and data modeling
Experience with distributed systems, message queues, asynchronous workflows, and scalable backend architectures
Ability to independently own significant technical projects from design to deployment
Strong engineering fundamentals, architectural judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and accountability
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship
