About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and stand up Spindrift’s demand planning function, including its vision, roadmap, operating model, and roles
- Serve as a senior leader within the supply chain organization and contribute to supply chain strategy
- Personally build and own the forecast at launch while defining the talent plan and organization design for future scale
- Establish demand planning as a strategic business partner
- Design and lead the monthly demand review within the S&OP cycle
- Build and own SKU-level forecasts by customer and channel across short-, mid-, and long-range horizons
- Analyze sales trends, sell-in versus sell-out, distribution, store counts, and rate of sale
- Partner with Marketing, Innovation, and Sales on new-item forecasts, launches, promotions, customer programs, and distribution changes
- Lead demand inputs to annual operating and long-range plans
- Establish weekly demand sensing to monitor performance and adjust forecasts
- Define allocation guidelines and lead allocation across customers during constrained inventory
- Develop SKU classification and inventory strategy with Supply Planning
- Build cross-functional partnerships and drive consensus on one demand plan
- Present demand plans, risks, opportunities, and scenarios to executives
- Partner with retail customers on forecasts, promotions, and data sharing
- Translate demand plans into supply, production, and inventory strategies
- Select and implement demand planning and statistical forecasting systems integrated with ERP
- Build foundational demand data and reporting; leverage POS, syndicated, and retailer data
- Re-map demand pegging tables to support network optimization
- Lead transformation from spreadsheet-based forecasting to a scalable, system-enabled process
- Define demand planning KPIs, governance, planning calendars, decision rights, and documentation
- Provide scenario planning, risk assessment, and executive decision support
- Implement continuous improvements and best practices
- Deliver a trusted consensus demand plan, improved forecast accuracy and bias, scalable tools and governance, and demand insights for one-, three-, and five-year plans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated success building or transforming demand planning functions within consumer packaged goods or similar industries
- Exceptional strategic influencing and collaboration skills, with proven ability to earn credibility and drive alignment with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and senior leadership
- Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, including significant demand planning leadership
- Deep understanding of S&OP, statistical forecasting, promotional and new product forecasting, and end-to-end supply chain processes
- Experience implementing a demand planning system strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and statistical aptitude
- Advanced MS Excel expertise
- Familiarity with syndicated and POS data (e.g., SPINS, Circana/Nielsen) required
- Experience with demand planning systems and ERP (NetSuite or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Power BI and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for coding and analysis a plus
- Experience presenting to senior audiences and distilling complex scenarios into actionable takeaways
- Ability to travel to the Newton, MA HQ office 1–2 times per month
