Key responsibilities & impact

Drive technical direction, guide architectural decisions, and lead complex engineering initiatives for Spotify’s identity and access management systems
Design and evolve distributed systems supporting authentication, authorization, and identity capabilities across Spotify’s platform
Partner with engineers, product managers, and security specialists to identify opportunities, align priorities, and improve foundational platform capabilities
Improve reliability, performance, observability, and operational resilience of identity services at scale
Mentor and support engineers across User Platform
Encourage experimentation, continuous improvement, and collaboration while owning meaningful technical outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need

Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale systems across different platforms
Deep understanding of identity and access management, including authentication, authorization, customer identity lifecycle management, and secure access patterns
Experience influencing architecture and technical direction across multiple engineering teams without direct authority
Ability to evaluate complex technical trade-offs balancing security, reliability, performance, and developer experience
Experience improving resilient, observable, and maintainable services operating at significant scale
Clear communication of complex technical ideas
Experience mentoring engineers and fostering an inclusive environment
Ability to work within Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration
Must be based in the EMEA region where Spotify has a work location; France excluded due to on-call restrictions
