About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership, management, and expert insight to financial accounting functions
  • Enable best-in-class statutory reporting, maximise cashflow, and maximise return on investments
  • Provide trusted advice and counsel to the Chief Finance Officer
  • Ensure appropriate policies, standards, and practices are adopted across the organisation
  • Provide line management and lead by example to professional and technical staff
  • Record, update, and report all financial information using the core accounting system
  • Develop and implement long-term investment and financing strategy with the CFO
  • Provide expert advice on tax, treasury, statutory reporting compliance requisitions, and pensions
  • Manage cash reserves, investment portfolio, and short- and long-term cashflow
  • Lead development, implementation, and improvement of corporate Finance policies and procedures
  • Ensure controls, processes, and systems support timely and accurate financial accounts and statutory reporting
  • Manage preparation of annual statutory accounts and financial statements for publication in the annual report
  • Collaborate with external auditors and advisors to deliver a smooth year-end close

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CCAB qualification or equivalent with significant post qualification experience in a relevant environment
  • High-level financial stewardship
  • Good knowledge of the reporting, legal and tax frameworks within which we operate
  • Sufficient understanding of detail points to know when specific expert advice is required
  • Understanding of FRS17
  • Proven experience of presenting financial accounts, year-end closures, and statutory reporting
  • Experience liaising with external auditors
  • Experience motivating, managing, and developing staff
  • Experience managing change and delivering consistent improvements
  • Ability to understand issues, break them down into constituent parts, identify root causes, and lead Team Based Problem solving sessions
  • Must be based in the UK
  • DBS Basic vetting level required
