About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee standards, compliance, safeguarding and sustainability needs of fostering services within southwest England
  • Provide strategic leadership and uphold strong practice and leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of regulated services across southwest England
  • Provide oversight and accountability to the AFC Head of Service (Fostering) and Ofsted
  • Lead and be accountable for safeguarding, recording and practice
  • Lead, motivate and support professional social work, health and business support staff
  • Maintain a strong team culture and promote best practice
  • Build relationships with carer families, local organisations, partner agencies, commissioners and stakeholders
  • Manage local budgets and contracts
  • Represent the service externally at local events, panels and forums
  • Hold the Registered Manager role for Southwest Fostering
  • Oversee the therapeutic HOMES Model

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recognised social work qualification (Degree, DipSW)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Significant experience across children’s social care, including fostering
  • Experience leading, motivating and supporting managers and social workers
  • Experience challenging under-performance and promoting best practice
  • Confidence analysing data, contributing to budgets and applying commercial awareness within a social care context
  • Enhanced DBS Adult & Children vetting required
