About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a portfolio of open access journals in the clinical medicine portfolio
  • Develop and execute annual journal development plans and identify business development opportunities
  • Manage annual targets for journal submissions, publications, transfers, and turnaround times
  • Deliver an excellent author experience and engage Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and societies
  • Resolve pre- and post-publication issues involving authorship, scope, ethics, consent, misconduct, and policies
  • Gather and synthesize data to support decision-making and strategic planning
  • Manage contract negotiations with external parties using financial profit-and-loss and forecasting knowledge
  • Build relationships with colleagues, researchers, external editors, and stakeholders
  • Monitor changes in the research community and publishing industry
  • Report to an Executive Publisher

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent, preferably in life, biomedical or health sciences
  • Resourceful and proactive approach to problems and queries
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Persuasion and influencing skills, with diplomacy and assertiveness
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to take ownership of tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with academic and industry-based researchers
  • Strong technical skills and sharp attention to detail
