About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle original research papers and work with editors throughout manuscript selection and peer review
- Make editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts based on expert advice
- Engage with the external editorial board, including guiding editors and recruiting and training new board members
- Liaise with Springer Nature editors and experts in the international scientific community
- Attend conferences and visit research institutions
- Commission Reviews, Perspectives and Comment articles
- Write Research Highlights and Editorials
- Contribute to journal strategy, editorial policies and publishing workflows
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD (or equivalent) in physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, or a closely related area of the chemical sciences
- Passion for science and desire to learn more
- Ability to demonstrate broad interest in scientific research within and beyond specialty
- Ability to read and assess novelty, context and implications of research across disciplines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
- Desire to meet scientists worldwide, learn about their research, and communicate publishing expectations
- Postdoctoral experience is advantageous but not essential
- Editorial experience is not required; applicants with significant editorial experience may be considered for Senior Editor
- Submission of a CV including a brief account of research and relevant experience
- Submission of a cover letter explaining interest in the post
- Submission of a document evaluating four recently published Communications Chemistry papers and explaining their likely impact
