About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research, commission and oversee the development of print and digital ELT content from concept development through handover to Delivery
  • Commission authors and contributors and collaborate with market research, local markets, and Global and Local Brand teams
  • Develop strong concepts that showcase the Customer Value Proposition
  • Brief and oversee in-house, freelance and outsourced teams to deliver quality material on schedule and within budget
  • Mentor Senior and Development Editors through a matrix management structure
  • Work with the Publisher and Senior Commissioning Editor to deliver a profitable business plan
  • Research and develop new publishing solutions with the Global Content and Methodologies team
  • Collaborate with Content Development, Publishing Operations, Sales and Marketing, Digital Product and Procurement stakeholders
  • Support segment strategy, publishing planning, market intelligence and competition analysis
  • Conduct school visits, observations and desk research to inform concept development
  • Develop samples, identify and evaluate authors/contributors, and support business cases and project costing
  • Schedule projects, oversee content development, provide constructive feedback and maintain quality standards
  • Brief content developers and packagers on specifications, tasks, schedules and ways of working
  • Manage author, contributor and supplier contracts
  • Support digital product development and ensure alignment with segment and concept requirements
  • Plan external resources, monitor budgets and propose solutions to manage over- or underspend
  • Support staff development, delegation, wellbeing and DEI awareness
  • Keep current with ELT/EFL issues, attend conferences and maintain industry contacts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Knowledge of ELT markets, especially the Pre-Primary & Primary segments in Spain
  • Demonstrable ELT publishing experience at project leadership level, with a proven track record of successful ELT/EFL product development
  • Solid experience in English language teaching and an appreciation for a wide international range of teaching and learning situations
  • Excellent written English
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage numerous tasks
  • Understanding of publishing technologies and flexibility to learn new systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working understanding of content management systems
  • Positive attitude and commitment to company aims
  • Excellent team-working and organisational skills
  • Experience working with a range of new media
  • Knowledge of a second language desirable
