About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Visit claim sites in the GTA to evaluate property damage and replacement/restoration requirements
Review the claims process with customers and help them submit required information
Determine whether claims are covered and explain coverage decisions
Prepare scopes of loss for claims involving building damage
Secure, evaluate, and approve contractor quotations
Assist customers with repairing or replacing lost or damaged property
Negotiate settlements, arrange payments, and finalize claims
Maintain training and industry knowledge
Prepare reports and request payments
Adjust smaller claims over the phone
Identify policies requiring underwriting review
Work closely with customers and contractors to replace or restore damaged property

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 3 years of property claims insurance experience
At least 1 year of field claims adjusting experience
At least 1 year of tenure with a recent employer
A high school diploma
Some post-secondary education preferred
A CIP designation or working towards this designation
An adjusting license in Ontario or ability to obtain one immediately
Superior analytical and decision-making skills
Effective communication, active listening, and questioning skills
Conflict management skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
