Key responsibilities & impact

Provide artistic direction for an AAA cinematic project
Demonstrate leadership and creativity in shaping the project's vision
Translate the client's vision artistically and visually under the supervision of the Creative Director and in collaboration with the VFX Supervisor
Monitor the overall artistic vision at key stages of production in collaboration with the CG Supervisor and Production
Build the art bible based on the brief provided by the client and/or Creative Director
Supervise, guide, and approve concept illustrations for characters and/or environments
Assign work to and follow up with Set Designers, Prop Designers, and Character Designers
Ensure that character and environment models, textures/shading, surfacing, lighting/compositing, and 2D special effects align with the visual guidelines established in the art bible
Supervise or execute paintovers as needed
Actively support artists throughout production, provide precise feedback, and propose solutions to improve the visual quality of shots

What you’ll need

At least 8 years of experience in art direction, production design, concept art, or illustration within the animation industry
Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities
Advanced expertise in digital painting
Excellent command of color, values, hand-painted textures, and the nuances of character skin tones
Proficiency in a painterly style
Ability to create characters and environments with a hand-painted finish, simplified shapes, broad brushstrokes, and a controlled use of lighting and atmospheric perspective
Ability to contribute to the initial look development, then refine and extend the visual style across the entire project
Ability to adapt established characters and iconic elements to a new art direction
Understanding of stylized 3D and ability to translate a 2D painted style into a 3D render
Ability to produce high-quality concepts, paintovers, and lighting references
Excellent understanding of composition, silhouettes, lighting, color, and image readability
Exceptional creativity and a highly developed artistic sensibility
