About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and develop the in-house IT team
- Own the corporate IT estate, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Windows and Mac endpoints, networks, telephony, meeting-room AV and office IT
- Define and measure support routing, escalation and service levels
- Manage the performance of the managed service provider and other IT suppliers
- Conduct quarterly service reviews, escalations and operational contract renewals
- Manage IT operational and project budgets
- Own the 12-month IT delivery plan and contribute to the longer-term technology roadmap
- Protect SRT’s data assets, people and associated third parties from cyber attacks
- Continually improve endpoint and identity platforms, including device management, endpoint protection, secure remote access, privilege management and Mac management
- Manage configuration, integration and access for business systems including ERP, Jira, delivery and HR tools, and Microsoft 365 automation
- Contribute to Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 security assurance and certification
- Own joiners, movers and leavers, licensing, asset management and device lifecycle
- Report to senior leadership on service, risk, cost and progress
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantial experience leading an internal IT function in a growing organisation of similar or larger size, ideally an engineering, technology or manufacturing business
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender and Conditional Access
- Experience with Mac management in a hybrid identity environment
- Experience managing a managed service provider and other IT suppliers, including service levels, reviews and renewals
- Track record of running IT as a responsive, visible and pragmatic service
- Experience delivering IT projects and change alongside business-as-usual
- Experience managing an IT budget and delivery plan
- Understanding of Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF security controls and frameworks
- Ability to lead, coach and develop a small team
- Ability to work alongside highly technical engineering colleagues
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technology choices and trade-offs to senior leaders in business terms
- Experience in a company that has grown quickly or through significant change would be helpful
- Experience in high-trust, regulated or mission-critical environments would be valuable
