About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support daily operational activities for institutional and insurance investment portfolios across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, mortgage-backed securities, bank loans, repos, and private investments
- Perform daily cash, position, transaction, and market value reconciliations between client records, custodians, prime brokers, and counterparties
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks by researching discrepancies and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor trade lifecycle events, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and exception management
- Track and process corporate actions and related operational activities
- Monitor failed trades and work with counterparties and custodians to facilitate timely resolution and settlement
- Process wires, settlements, collateral movements, and cash-related transactions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while serving as a point of contact for operational inquiries
- Assist with client onboarding activities, account setup, and process implementation efforts
- Partner with Accounting, Data Management, Technology, Product, and Client Service teams to support daily operations
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and controls
- Participate in special projects, process enhancements, testing initiatives, and ad hoc requests
- Document procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of team workflows and controls
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
- Internship, co-op, or relevant work experience in financial services, operations, accounting, or client service is preferred but not required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Desire to learn financial products, investment operations, and capital markets
- Understanding of financial markets, investments, or investment operations through coursework, internships, or prior experience
- Experience working with large datasets and performing reconciliations
- Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and work independently when needed
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in investment operations, accounting, or financial services
