About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and manage internally developed tools supporting and maintaining critical network infrastructure
Work with the networking team to understand infrastructure automation requirements
Deliver automated troubleshooting, alerting, and tooling to resolve complex networking issues
Gather metrics, telemetry, and configuration data from a wide variety of networking devices
Develop applications and write code to automate network-related functions
Develop monitoring and reporting for network devices and behavior
Identify areas that can benefit from automation
Deploy automation and analytics to support SS&C’s network
Develop custom tools to improve enterprise network support, accelerate problem resolution, proactively resolve issues, and reduce network-impacting events

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 3 years leading software development projects in the network engineering space
Automation experience on multiple platforms, including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, VMware/NSX-T, F5, Arista, Aruba, and Cumulus
Experience developing custom APIs
3+ years of Python experience
Working knowledge of Ansible and Python tools related to network engineering, such as Netmiko and PyATS
Experience working with external REST APIs
Strong knowledge of relational and nonrelational database systems, including SQL-style databases and Splunk/ELK
Working knowledge of data dashboarding platforms, such as Grafana
3+ years of network engineering experience, including routing/switching, strong BGP, and firewalls
Ability to work in a team environment, share and reuse existing code, document work, and use Git for code management
