About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and reporting processes for alternative investment funds
- Manage fund accountants, including performance management, training, and development
- Review and approve complex journal entries, capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, investor reports, and regulatory filings
- Lead client communication and relationship management for complex accounting inquiries
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and technology teams to improve service delivery and efficiency
- Develop and implement fund accounting process and control best practices
- Monitor industry trends, accounting pronouncements such as ASC 946, and regulatory changes
- Participate in new client onboarding and due diligence
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting
- At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role within alternative investments
- In-depth knowledge of alternative investment structures and associated accounting complexities
- Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles, particularly for investment companies
- Ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in fund accounting software such as Advent Geneva, PFS-PAXUS, or Investran
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- CPA designation is a plus
- Master's degree is preferred
