About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform all aspects of hospital and professional billing activities
- Maintain knowledge of rules and regulations concerning industry billing procedures
- Communicate and interact with insurance companies, physicians, patients, and staff regarding billing inquiries
- Resolve billing inquiries using billing operation systems, payer websites, reports, and other tools
- Provide feedback to improve billing processes and efficiencies
- Meet billing deadlines and productivity measures while maintaining accuracy and quality
- Work a scheduled 40-hour week
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of one or more billing systems and patient accounting systems
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties
- Use Microsoft Office in performance of duties and responsibilities
- Ability to resolve billing inquiries using billing operation systems, payer websites, and reports
- Ability to provide feedback to adjust and enhance billing processes and efficiencies
- Ability to meet billing deadlines and productivity measures while maintaining accuracy and quality
- Knowledge of all insurance types (governmental and non-governmental) preferred
- Knowledge of EPIC preferred
- Medical Billing/Coding course completion with certification OR 1 year experience in filing professional and/or facility claims required
- Medical Billing/Coding certification preferred
- Must possess good physical health
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds
