About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the company data platform end to end, including the S3/Athena/Glue lake, dbt project, integrations, and Postgres serving layer
Build and operate integrations between billing, CRM, ERP, identity, and telemetry systems
Design and maintain dimensional models, data contracts, quality tests, lineage, and a catalog
Enforce PII tiering through access grants in collaboration with Security and Legal
Process billions of telemetry rows, terabyte log streams, and Iceberg tables at scale
Own orchestration and infrastructure on EKS, including Helm, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting
Join the business-hours on-call rotation for daily pipelines
Deliver operational reporting for Finance and leadership on revenue, credits, prepaid liability, and cloud cost
Support research teams across audio, video, image, and 3D by sourcing, license-checking, ingesting, and versioning training datasets
Build generation, filtering, deduplication, and captioning pipelines for raw or synthetic media
Run training-data workloads at scale on the SLURM cluster and cloud object storage
Maintain lineage, quality metrics, and dataset documentation for reproducible training sets
Lead design reviews, mentor teammates, and write runbooks
Partner with Finance, Marketing, SRE, Security, Product, and Research on company-wide data initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years building and running production data platforms, including ownership of the architecture
Experience integrating SaaS business systems such as Stripe, HubSpot, an ERP, and an identity provider into a warehouse
Production experience preparing large multimodal training datasets and running batch workloads on HPC or cloud schedulers such as SLURM or Kubernetes
Comfort working independently in a small team with real ownership
Expert SQL and Python, with strong software engineering habits including tests, code review, and CI
Warehouse and lake experience with Iceberg or Delta on S3, Athena/Trino, Snowflake or BigQuery, and dbt
Production experience with an orchestrator such as dbt, Airflow, or Argo
Distributed processing experience with Spark or equivalent
AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, and Terraform experience
Ability to debug failing Glue jobs and broken Helm releases
Prior 0-to-1 platform ownership at a startup is an additional strength
Experience working with research teams on generative models or hands-on exposure to audio, video, image, or 3D data is an additional strength
FinOps and cloud cost reporting experience is an additional strength
Familiarity with SOC 2 or similar compliance requirements for data access is an additional strength
