About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support state regulatory and permitting reform work
- Work directly with the Policy Director, Legal Director, and management team
- Research state statutes, regulations, and guidance documents
- Analyze state regulatory reform initiatives and potential
- Verify legal citations in written materials
- Test AI tools for regulatory analysis
- Build simple AI-powered applications for regulatory research
- Review draft materials and suggest edits for accuracy, readability, and persuasiveness
- Write and publish short pieces, including blog posts or brief op-eds, as opportunities arise
- Contribute work product to briefings, model legislation, and materials used by state legislators, governors’ offices, and executive agencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Eligible candidates must be geographically located in the United States through the duration of the program
- Must be authorized to work in the United States through the duration of the program
- Current law or public policy student or recent graduate, or prior experience working with statutes, regulations, and other legal materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfort experimenting with new software tools
- Experience with AI tools or low-code platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with cost-benefit analysis is helpful but not required
- No programming background required
