About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete onboarding similar to full-time Ballotpedia employees
- Learn to code the Ballotpedia website
- Learn and follow Ballotpedia’s style guide
- Learn how Ballotpedia prevents and detects bias in its resources
- Join the Policy Team alongside full-time staff writers and researchers
- Research and write about policy topics, including key arguments, reform proposals, legislation, regulations, case law, and state surveys
- Assist with news tracking, legislation tracking, and primary source monitoring
- Conduct detailed research projects
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and planning meetings with experienced staff members
- Assist with metrics and reporting on data collection
Requirements
What you’ll need- Early-career professionals, including undergraduate, graduate, or law students and recent graduates, are encouraged to apply
- Must be geographically located in the United States for the duration of the program
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the program
- Must have a well-functioning computer with Internet access
- Some familiarity with Google Applications is helpful
- Submit a résumé in PDF format
- Submit a cover letter including contact information for two professional references
- Submit a neutral writing sample under five pages in the same file as the cover letter
- Résumé or cover letter must include current address
