About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of assigned structural engineering staff
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers at all stages of their careers
  • Support succession planning and build the next generation of technical leaders
  • Recommend training and professional development opportunities
  • Provide input regarding hiring, compensation, promotions, transfers, and other personnel decisions
  • Coordinate project priorities, workload planning, staffing schedules, and resource assignments
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget
  • Monitor resource utilization and maintain effective staffing plans
  • Partner with project managers to address project delivery challenges and opportunities
  • Ensure quality control standards are consistently met
  • Serve as a technical leader on complex structural engineering projects
  • Support the design of steel structures and foundations for power generation, industrial, and critical infrastructure facilities
  • Develop and review engineering reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Promote engineering design, quality, and project execution best practices
  • Encourage innovation through modern engineering tools, technology, and design methodologies
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior technical staff on business development initiatives
  • Foster client relationships and contribute to project pursuit efforts
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities
  • Support department leadership in operational and financial performance goals
  • Report to the Structural Department Manager
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, and executive leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible structural engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing engineering resources
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, project delivery processes, and quality management practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
