About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical assistance to project managers and senior technical staff for sustainable building projects and related services
- Develop project-appropriate sustainability strategies with the Team Leader and Sustainability Specialists
- Evaluate and track sustainability measures, including LEED credits, indoor air quality testing, and waste auditing
- Communicate sustainability requirements and obligations to project team members
- Attend project design and construction meetings and document discussions
- Help document submittals for submission to applicable green building certification bodies
- Facilitate green building certifications including LEED, WELL, Fitwel, BOMA BEST, Zero Carbon Building Standard, and Green Globes
- Communicate certification requirements to clients, architects, engineers, contractors, industry representatives, and construction trades
- Perform other sustainability-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Understanding of sustainability as it applies to the vertical built environment, mechanical systems, and building construction materials and assemblies
- Some training or knowledge in complementary green building fields such as Energy Modeling, building science/durability, or daylighting is an asset
- Excellent command of verbal and written English
- French language capabilities are an asset but not required
- Excellent organizational abilities and ability to manage multiple workload assignments
- Detail-oriented and capable of strategic thinking
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to solve problems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Personal commitment to environmental/sustainability issues is an asset
- Ability to obtain a Reliability Clearance with Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC)
- Strong work ethic and professional attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment and in-person communication skills
- Strong customer service commitment
- LEED Green Associate (LEED GA) or LEED Accredited Professional (AP) is an asset
- Bachelor's in Engineering or Architecture, or Building/Construction-related diploma, or related studies
- Prior experience relating to green buildings or engineering sciences is an asset
