About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead mechanical engineering and design on projects and serve as the engineer of record
Provide QAQC services in alignment with the firm Quality Process Manual
Coordinate with Project Managers and Design Managers/Project Engineers on deliverables and Basis of Design
Oversee load calculations, systems design, cross-discipline coordination, and signing and sealing contract documents
Conduct LCCA analysis
Mentor junior engineers and participate in in-house continuing education programs
Coordinate with the Department Head and Focus Leads for resource allocation
Manage the Construction Administration phase, including submittal review, RFI responses, and site visits
Lead teams of Engineers and Designers across multiple projects
Support scope definition, schedule management, quality reviews, budget tracking, and resource estimation
Perform engineering studies for highly technical clients
Prepare technical engineering documents and explain engineering concepts to non-technical audiences

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
10 or more years of engineering experience in the industrial design and construction industry
Current Professional Engineers license in the U.S.
Technical writing experience and proficiency
Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proficiency in PDF tools such as Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
Proficiency in energy modeling using IESVE or other current DOE-2 modeling software compliant with ASHRAE 140
Knowledge of scope definition, design schedule management, multidisciplinary coordination, design document creation, and quality reviews
Budget tracking throughout design
RFP scope definition and resource estimation
Experience performing engineering studies, including phased system loading and payback analysis
Technical writing for engineering studies, Basis of Design documents, Sequence of Operations documents, and narratives for non-technical audiences
Experience leading Engineers and Designers on multiple projects
LEED AP preferred
