  • Prepare and review design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications, technical memoranda, reports, cost opinions, and construction documentation.
  • Lead mechanical system assessments, existing-building investigations, feasibility studies, facility condition reviews, decarbonization studies, and renewal planning.
  • Develop high-performance mechanical design strategies incorporating electrification and low-carbon heating; coordinate energy modelling and greenhouse-gas reduction planning.
  • Complete technical reviews and quality-control checks for coordination, constructability, maintainability, codes, and standards.
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with multidisciplinary consultants and stakeholders.
  • Engage facility operators, user groups, municipal representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand operational requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Support construction through shop-drawing reviews, RFIs, site reviews, deficiency identification, commissioning support, and closeout.
  • Support project delivery under design-build, construction management, and public-private partnership models.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, technologists, and project teams.
  • Support proposals, interviews, client relationship development, project capture planning, and practice growth.
  • Contribute lessons learned, technical standards, design tools, and knowledge-sharing across mechanical and Buildings teams.
  • Maintain a minimum utilization of 70%.
  • Travel to project sites, including northern and remote communities, when required.

  • Experience applying relevant building, fire, plumbing, energy, refrigeration, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead technical work, manage competing priorities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with consulting engineering project delivery, fee management, schedules, risk management, proposals, and client service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a mechanical engineering technologist diploma from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in the applicable Canadian jurisdiction.
