About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own end-to-end delivery of product capabilities across data, services, and UI from concept to production rollout
  • Lead architecture and technical decisions across streaming, big data processing, APIs, data modeling, and user-facing experiences
  • Establish an AI-enabled development workflow across requirements, design, implementation, code review, documentation, and incident/RCA support
  • Create reusable prompts, templates, and guardrails for safe, repeatable AI-assisted development
  • Design and ship AI-assisted decision support with real-time inference, explainability, summarization, alerting, measurable outcomes, and human-in-the-loop controls
  • Own and evolve API contracts, including validation, naming, backward-compatible changes, and deprecation strategy
  • Drive data quality and identity governance through reliable master data practices
  • Own performance and reliability by defining latency/throughput targets, designing failure handling, and maintaining SLOs
  • Mentor and develop the team through code reviews, pairing, design reviews, and coaching
  • Translate business needs into technical plans and align with product, program, data, and partner teams
  • Communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly
  • Improve service levels, reduce operational costs, and accelerate decision cycles through insights and automation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years building and operating large-scale, multi-service platforms in a complex enterprise environment
  • Strong experience with Kafka or equivalent and stream processing using Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, or Kafka Streams
  • Experience building reliable data pipelines, stateful processing, schema evolution, backfills, and idempotent processing patterns
  • Experience with Apache Spark and Databricks
  • Experience building production APIs and services using TypeScript/Node, Java/Kotlin, Go, or similar
  • Experience with caching and performance tuning
  • Strong experience with NoSQL and SQL databases, including Postgres, Cassandra, or equivalent
  • Experience with distributed caching, document stores, and/or analytics stores
  • Understanding of indexing, partitioning, and query optimization
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including networking basics, IAM, managed-service tradeoffs, and cost/performance
  • Experience integrating ML/LLM capabilities into products, including model serving, prompt patterns, evaluation, safety/guardrails, monitoring, and feedback loops
  • Experience with production monitoring, tracing, alerting, incident response, and defining/meeting SLOs
  • Secure-by-default development experience, including sensitive data handling, least-privilege access, and auditability
  • Technical leadership across teams, including design reviews, mentoring, and delivery across ambiguous problem spaces
